I was equal parts excited and nervous when Spencer reached out to me to capture him popping the question to his sweet girlfriend, Ashlyn! It is always so nerve wracking as a photographer to capture those once in a lifetime moments, but that's also WHY we are doing it. It's complicated. (:

I channeled those nerves to excitement and I helped Spencer plan the perfect proposal! We chatted on the phone about what location would be best and how I would go about getting the moment!

I decided that since we would be out somewhere that I normally go rock climbing, it wouldn't be too suspicious if I just looked like I was out there to watch the sunset. I brought my fiancé and my dog as decoys and the plan worked perfectly. I set up a blanket and waited patiently for the moment to unfold.

I set up a blanket in the general direction of where I wanted them to stand. In hindsight, I probably could have just gone to "get it out of their way."
